Fundraising

Make sure you have plenty of volunteers and as much community support possible.

DO:

• Register your planned fundraising event or activity with us at the People in Need office by phoning us or by filling out and mailing to us the Event Registration Form enclosed in this Kit or you can register your event online by going to our registration form. (Coming Soon)

• Contact in advance the manager or the owner of any premises you are using either for a collection or an event.

• Make certain that insurance cover is arranged as required for your particular fundraising event.

• Neither the People in Need Trust nor RTÉ can accept any liability for your event. You are responsible for insurance if it is required.

• Make sure you have plenty of volunteers and as much community support as possible. Try to notify as many people as possible about your event.

• Contact your local Gardai if you are organising an event in a public space. If you hold a raffle or collection in a public place you will need a permit, so please consult the Gardai in your area well in advance for details.

• Take care when collecting money. Also please note that children under 14 years are NOT allowed to collect money in collection boxes.

• Appoint two people to be in charge of all funds collected and for their subsequent lodgement to the RTÉ People in Need Telethon account using the enclosed lodgement form which should be filled out with name and address and can be lodged in any bank branch nationwide.

• Remember to get a receipt from the bank when lodging your money and send the receipt with your contact details on to the People in Need Office, 33-37 Clarendon St., Dublin 2 -- and we'll send you a certificate.

DON'T

• Be too ambitious or attempt anything which might be unsuitable or dangerous to yourself or others. Such events will not be supported by the RTÉ People in Need Telethon.

• Forget to be original, as the most interesting events will attract the most support and may even be of interest to your local media.

Please note that the People in Need Trust cannot accept any liability in respect of loss, damage, or injury suffered by any person as a result of fundraising or associated activity undertaken for the RTÉ People in Need Telethon.
